Where to go apple picking in October near Montreal? 10 orchards

Published October 13, 2026. 4 min read.

Family picking apples in an orchard

Apple picking is the ultimate fall outing: you wander down the rows, the kids fill the bag (and munch on a few along the way), and you head home with enough for a week of pies. But in October, the season is winding down. Some orchards close as early as mid-October, while others stay open until the end of the month. Here are 10 spots around Montreal, sorted by region, so you can go before it is too late.

In short: for lots of orchards in one trip, head to Saint-Joseph-du-Lac; for mountain views, choose Mont-Saint-Hilaire or Mont-Saint-Grégoire; and call ahead before going to Oka, where the season ends around mid-October.

North Shore: Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, Saint-Eustache and Oka

2. La Tête dans les Pommes

An organic orchard where you can pick apples and pumpkins until the end of October. Kids enjoy the mini farm and the play areas, and the whole family can taste more than 25 apple varieties for free before choosing.

3. Verger Richard Legault

A family orchard since 1979, with apple and pumpkin picking, tractor rides, a walking trail through the rows and outdoor games. Their website shows a calendar of the varieties ready to pick: handy for planning your visit.

4. La Magie de la Pomme

Eight generations of the same family! Pick apples and pumpkins, then enjoy the tractor ride, the mini farm, face painting for kids and, on weekends, a free maze. Apple doughnuts on site.

5. Labonté de la Pomme

A family estate with a century-old orchard, where you can pick apples, pears, plums and pumpkins depending on the season. The season runs from late August to mid-October, and picking ends one hour before closing: call before you go to make sure picking is still open.

West Island: Île Perrot

6. Ferme Quinn

8. Les Vergers Petit et Fils

At the foot of Mont Saint-Hilaire, apple picking continues until the end of October. For kids: a mini farm, a corn maze, a rally, motorized rides and a playground. The crêperie is open on Saturdays and Sundays, and the fall view of the mountain is worth the trip.

9. Vergers Denis Charbonneau

At the foot of Mont Saint-Grégoire, the apple and pear season covers September and October. Kids will love the mini farm, with its alpacas, the play area and the motorized rides. Do not leave without trying the apple doughnuts.

In Laval: for pumpkins

10. Ferme Marineau

This is the place to go to pick your Halloween pumpkin without leaving Laval. Picking runs from June to October depending on the harvest, and the farm stand is open every day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Note: the October haunted maze is designed for adults and teens, not young children.

Our tips

  • Check that the orchard is open that morning: late in the season, orchards may close early depending on the harvest and the weather.
  • Go in the morning, especially on weekends, to avoid the crowds.
  • Wear boots: the rows are often muddy in October.
  • Give each child a mission (find the biggest apple, count the varieties): the visit goes by faster for little ones.
  • In Saint-Joseph-du-Lac, several orchards are on the same road: easy to visit two in one day.
